The Escapist was blind luck, I think. I linked to a few of their articles in early issues - Issue 14 or so. I also said nice things about them in comments on the Guardian Gamesblog, back when it linked to your homepage. I guess one or the other or a combination of both led to somebody noticing The Average Gamer.
In case you're wondering, I get a tiny bit more traffic from them than I do from AcidForBlood.net. Tiny as in, ~3 more people a week, according to Google Analytics.
VGA box picture quality is poor, yes. I'm not exactly enamoured with the graphics quality of the PS2 anyway, so it doesn't bother me. The colours are a bit off and the edges are a little fuzzy. All I use it for is playing Bully Canis Canem Edit. Wouldn't want to see a picture like that on a monitor the size of yours ;)
