IUD Insertion

May 05, 2006 14:59

I had one inserted today.

Hurt like a fuckin' bitch going in.

Mostly that's due to the fact that I haven't had children (nulliparous is the medical term) and my cervix is still teeny-tiny. Hormones (pill, injection, implant) either mess with my head or are contraindicated by my rare migraines and I've already tried most of them with varying results ( Read more... )

Yeah, I'm not big on the no-sex thing. Plus, it's the only type of exercise I really enjoy ;)

Yeah, it's only about a 10 minute procedure and I'm normally okay with pain but the location makes it feel sooooo much scarier. If you cut your arm or whatever then you can at least put pressure on it and feel like you're helping.

But damn, doctor - I knew she was in training as this is a specialised procedure but if she's not confident, just STFU and listen to the experienced doctor. Don't say scary things like "I always get those confused" when you're poking around down there. And REALLY don't say "That's never happened before" to justify your surprise. I don't wanna know. Save it for when I've left.

Cadbury's Mini Eggs seem to be helping the cramps more than the painkillers did :)

I was actually considering getting an IUD because I've tried four brands of the Pill with massive side effects...ugh. I'm sorry the insertion was so horrible, but I hope it settles down soon. I'll probably be probing your brain over the next little while to see how the IUD is going for you. :) (I WANT SEXY DETAILS! ...kidding.)
