I walk into the office and smile at Jake, remembering the chat we had last time I was here.
"Hey Jake. Um tea? Yeah please. Milk and one sugar."

Milk and one, coming up jake_camp January 31 2005, 21:16:39 UTC
Emma looks...pensive, different. Retiring. Not how I think of her. Handing her the tea I notice her fingers are cold. From outside? or inside?
"What's up? How are you?" One thing I can trust about Emma-she'll tell me. She won't hide. She's brave that way.

I sip at my tea and smile as it warms my insides. I know I can tell Jake. I know I could trust him. even if he wasn't the counsellor he wouldn't tell anyone.
I look up at him and smile a little.
"You know I told you about the girl I um...kinda fell in love with? Well, she's here"

Oh. Yipes. jake_camp January 31 2005, 21:28:14 UTC
"And, um, that's going to be awkward."
Or you wouldn't be here, you'd be shagging somewhere.
"Did you expect to see her here?"
How awkward is this going to be?
"Are you in the same cabin?"

Getting up I draw each of us a glass of water. No need for it, just to create a little movement in a room that has suddenly frozen. Where is Emma's mind right now? Here? or there?
Being found with...
"What's her name?"

"Let's look at those two words, Emma. Power, and strength. How would you define each of them?"
I remember learning to distinguish between energy, power, and strength. I'm still learning. And one of the ways I learn is to hear other people's definitions.
"And give an example of each, will you? Yes just like in school," as she wrinkles her nose a little.

I have to think about that one a while.
Power.
Strength.

"Well...I guess power is...like having control over something. And strength...well strength is having the ability to...stand up to something that isn't right...or, the ability to stop someone having power over you. Is that right?"

Yep, that's right. Let's add 'energy' to the mix. jake_camp February 10 2005, 03:36:25 UTC
"Yeah. You know, my family accuses me of having a 'library mind', and it's true, I suppose. But I've always loved following words back, as far back as we can, anyway, and when I researched 'energy', 'power', and 'strength' I was blown away ( ... )
