Abilities overview
Patchouli is a magician youkai. As the name no doubt implies, she is rather adept at magic, her focus being the seven seven elements of wood, fire, water, metal, earth, sun, and moon, one for each day of the week. However, she has shown to be able to alter this element structure to the five Western elements of Earth, Fire, Wind, ( Read more... )

Matthew Gravesend / whoisthatchild: Is Patchy allowed to learn your magic?Yes...and no! Comments / Questions:Alright, to explain: there's nothing stopping Patchy from being able to copy the spells that Matthew uses. However, it's an established thing in his world that using any magic causes Stress. With a capital S. Stress comes in two varieties, Physical Stress and Emotional Stress, and all abilities (magic & superhuman skills) causes at least a little of both. Stress is built up over time in the person's Stress Meter, which is split into five sections. When the boundary of one section is breached, the user is inflicted with a Stress Break which causes a status condition, which is why Matthew falls asleep or becomes disabled as he over works himself-his other three are amnesia, endurance damage and petrification. Stress Breaks are always five things that most disrupt a person's personal style, so the always active, hard working Matthew has Stress Breaks that cause him to be unable to perform. Someone who needed a calm mind would probably have ( ... )

I get it. Maybe, prehaps, Patchy could at least learn to use lower tier spells? She's frail, yes, but I'd imagine she's be able to at least use one without hurting herself.

Yeah, actually she probably could do some of the lower level stuff, since people keep normal human levels of endurance until they hit about level 15. Just keep in mind that Stress builds up, so using Matthew's spells in succession will be a problem.

But, she won't actually know that's what happens until she uses them and it happens. So oops.

...I would assume that studying Matthew's spells thoroughly would reveal the side effects of Stress, but whatever.

Is Patchy allowed to learn your magic? Yes, assuming she can handle it.
Comments / Questions: All right, I suppose first thing to note is that for Lunar's magic, based off how it works in the game and is discussed in the novels and the like, I'm using a modified version of the Slayers idea of the pool capacity versus bucket capacity: you have $pool amount of power, and you can control $bucket at a time. The main difference is that in Lunar, the pool's mostly fixed at birth while the bucket can grow, and in Slayers, the bucket's mostly fixed at birth but the pool can grow. The pool and bucket amounts have no relation to each other -- there's at least one character with a bucket large enough to control the magic of dragons, but who had absolutely no power of his own, i.e. an empty pool. Both values can be expanded through magic items and incantations and the like, which is one of the main purposes of what magicians in Lunar study ( ... )

Patchy could learn the spells to know how they work, but as an elementalist herself, I doubt she'd actually use it at all too much. Except maybe the antimagic circle. We'll see how it works out in the future.

Is Patchy allowed to learn your magic? It falls into high-end divine magic. Sorry, but no.
Comments / Questions: While the Celestial Brush can be imitated (as seen with the Ninetails), it isn't the same since it isn't blessed. Celestial Envoys are blessed to use the Celestial Brushes abilities to spread the Divine Word of Gods. Other than that, anything Ammy does would probably just be high-end divine magic. Sorry Patchy!

Yep. Figured as much. Powerful as Patchy can be, she still can't match a goddess quite yet...

Is Patchy allowed to learn your magic? No. But there are probably small things that could be copied with some effort and resources to burn.
Comments / Questions: Yama powers. :c

I'll just go ahead and file it under "divine magic" and Patchy will leave the yama alone. I think she's on (mostly) white terms and wants to keep it that way by not trying to learn to do the Yama's job.

Is Patchy allowed to learn your magic? yes!
Comments / Questions: the list is here under "fonic artes". I can describe the individual spells if you want, or you can just plug them into the Tales Wiki if you'd like.

Comments / Questions: The usual KH tier of spells that Sora knows. However, she's still in training herself, so this probably won't come up until I give her an excuse to learn them.
