Most people live in a myth and grow violently angry if anyone tells them the truth about themselves

If she hates having her beliefs 'attacked', then she shouldn't make a point of being so militant about them!

If you want to keep your feelings to yourself and be left alone, don't start a conversation about them and then get huffy when it's your turn to confront awkward questions. It would be different if you had asked for HER opinion and then objected to it, but the initiator should be the one responsible for managing the discussion.

I despair of the way so many people find it difficult to be objective.

Indeed! Or rather, I despair of the way so many people don't even try to be objective. We probably all find it difficult at times, but we recognise that it's necessary.

I imagine she spends most of her time around people who agree with her views, so raising them generally just leads to positive reinforcement. She's apparently very happy living in that bubble, and never wants to leave. Which is sad, but she's certainly not alone in that attitude.
