I've been thinking about going and doing the same thing. But, I know absolutly nothing about it. I need gas money. Where do I go... what do I do since I've never done it before? I wanna go tomorrow!
Make sure you have at least 2 hours to spare. The place I go on Amnicola next to labcorps. Make sure you bring a government ID, and something with your Social Scurity number on it. If you have any piercings or tatoos they won't let you do it for a yaer. You get a physical, and then you sit and watch a movie with a needle in your arm while they take whole blood out, keep the plasma, and then put your blood cells and saline back in.
It's not very hard, I just don't think it's meant for me. You $40 your first and second time, after that it's based on weight.
There are people who go on a regular basis. They will let you go twice a week. So, it's not bad for everyone, but they said some people are just not cut out for it, and I am one of those people.
To be honest, I wish I was. Until the passing out thing it was a really easy way to earn a little extra money. You just lay there and watch a movie, and (for most people) the only painful part is the one stick when they put the needle in. I just have to be complicated :P.
I have an Ex that donates all the time. You would think he is addicted to it or something. He tried to get me to do it...Me?! The Queen of Fear when it comes to Medical Needles. No, thank you. I am sooooo glad, now, that I did not do it.
I hope you get to feeling better and your arm heals well. Still, it is a good thing they got that blood clot (digging be damned).
