1. What did you do in 2008 that you’d never done before?
Got one of the leading parts in a play. Baby-making.
2. Did you keep your New Year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn't make any last year. This year I made one and will do my best.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Our friends A+C.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.
5. What places did you visit?
Charlottesville, Philadelphia, Rehoboth Beach, New York, Raleigh, Miami.
6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
A healthy baby in late April.
7. What day from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
August 17. Two lines.
8. What was your biggest achievement(s) of the year?
Same things as question #1. And a promotion at work.
9. What was your biggest failure?
To still let stupid people/stupid things bother me too much. To have stopped writing as much.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Only the usual.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Sperm. My car.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
S, for being so brave through everything. Our parents (and my boss) for being so supportive.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
A few people here and there, but mostly political figures.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Sperm, bills, gifts and trips.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Going from understudy to main actor. S being pregnant. Getting a nice raise at work.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you: a) happier or sadder? b) thinner or fatter? c) richer or poorer?
Same on all, perhaps some happier.
18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Writing.
20. How did you spend Christmas in 2008?
In Miami, where you couldn't tell it was xmas because it was 80 degrees and everything was open.
21. Did you fall in love in 2008?
Stayed madly in love.

Dexter.
24. What did you do for your birthday in 2008?
Went to Philadelphia and had a really great time.

How I Paid for College: A Novel of Sex, Theft, Friendship & Musical Theater by Marc Acito

Lorena McKinnett.
27. What did you want and get?
For S to get pregnant. A promotion. A car. For my nasty coworker to leave somehow.
28. What did you want and not get?
I got an awesome new boss and then he gave his notice a couple weeks ago. I still want a bigger salary. We also put the flat-screen tv on hold.
29. What were your favourite three films this year?
Wall-E. Religulous. Milk.
30. Did you make some new friends this year?
We made friends with 3 couples, and a whole bunch of people online.
31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Winning the lottery!
32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
Same as 2007 and I imagine 2009: comfortable yet stylish enough.
33. What kept you sane?
S and my writing.
34. What political issue stirred you the most?
The presidential election and Prop 8.

The same friends I don't see often enough.

I don't believe I can rate the people I've met like that.
