The Superbowl was incredible. The commercials were not.
There were some incredible plays -- but NO game should have ended like that, least of all between two Superbowl contenders.
I'm not suggesting the game should have had a different outcome, but c'mon... it's the last play of the Superbowl Game, and you're going to hang back, glance around and let time run out on you to blow it like THAT? *grunt* Take the shot, even if you KNOW it's a one in a million chance! At least I can understand the commercials being not as good in this economical downturn (and did you notice the ONLY American auto commercial was Cadillac AFTER the game?). Do you think the NFL players have the excuse of having their pay furloughed?
You're talking about the last 5 seconds I presume? Me, not so picky. I thought the game was really exciting and was rooting for the Steelers to turn it around.
I didn't actually watch the game, well, save for the last few minutes, because I got curious what the score was, and turned it on just in time to see the Cards take the lead. And, well, living in Pittsburgh, it was important to know whether I'd be dealing with asshats for the next while. So, even I may have gleed when the Steelers took it back.
I did go online seeking commercials to see what was out there. I was kinda amused by the Bud Light Clydesdale playing fetch, if only for the expression on the Dalmatian's face. And, though it was stupid as hell, I was crying with laughter at the very end of the "Free Doritos" commercial.
