Can't you just see Dustin bonding with Xander over their different yet the same Earth power? I'm definitely considering an "outside the dome" POV and the girl's reactions to Shane & Tori.
On a totally separate note - the Samurai Rangers have Emily (Yellow/Earth) and Mike (Green/Forest) which fascinates me because they split the Earth/Nature element on the same team. And their colors align with Dustin and Xander.

Xander spent so much of his life trying to connect, trying to fit in. It was sort of a trademark of his to introduce himself to everyone he met.
