btw i want to take that selected topics in amer. women's hist too and i sincerely sincerely doubt i can get in, because it's limited to 15 and apparently eveyrone and their mother wants it. my ra, who is a rising jr., said she hopes she can get in! so maybe that will make it easy and bring you down to 5 classes?

ps. labs are super hard so i would NOT take them as a 6th class!

re: selected topic in amer. women's hist...

i'm taking American Women in the 20th C. with Prof. Rosenberg right now and she said that she's giving priority in the seminar to people who have taken the lecture first so we're not "reinventing the wheel." i really want to take it, but there are a lot of upperclasswomen in my class now so i'm worried i won't get in!

like half the girls in my history section r in that class.. is it good? maybe i'll take that in the spring instead(since the seminar seems not attainable). Im so pissed about that.. it's one of the only seminars on the pencilbook that doesn't say "need teacher permission" or "application" so i thought it wasn't that hard to get into... blah.

My brother was a US History major at Columbia. He liked it a lot (and got to take some classes with those teachers there was a scandal about...)

if you talk to him anytime soon could you ask him for any preferences in terms of professors?

I know he really liked Kenneth T. Jackson. That came up kind of randomly in December when I read the book Jackson wrote for his class (The Crabgrass Frontier). I'll ask him the next time I talk to him.

I'm glad that you switched to something that you will love! It's so exciting to do that :)

I think I am going to be a sociology major. Because I really like my sociology class. like a lot. Except right now I should be writing a paper for it... oh well!!!

How is bio lab a requirement?!? I just finished bio lab - well, i still have one more paper to write and a final, but no more actual time in the lab. Anyway - it sucked. And you know i don't generally hate bio. We had to dissect the liver out of a just decapitated rat one day. It was still twitching it's legs when we did it. Worst experience EVER, ok? Is there NOTHING else you can take?

well our science requirement is 2 lecture/labs in the same science. I was going to take psych, but there is a lottery to get classes and if i take bio i get out of one of the lectures because of my A.P. score... so right now my time(to do more classes i like) is more valuable to me than my interest in bio *shrug*.
i think premed people rebel and major in really flakey things.. my roommate wants to be a film major.

Sociology is not flaky! Shush.

And I'm totally going to say I told you so when you come whining to me about bloody, headless, twitching rats.

I will now stop because I'm actually grossing myself out.

I'm happy because I get to take fun classes next semester in addition to garbage like orgo and physics. Yay!
