"Women in tech", doxing, Kathy Sierra, and the koolaid.

We must differentiate between "women in tech" and women making tech. There are many self-proclaimed "women in tech". A representative member of the "women in tech" community has no useful free software contributions, a series of non-technical job roles at insignificant companies, no successful investments, no notable hacks to their name, and a very ( Read more... )

Some of those people talk major shit and then decry all criticism as harassment. It's a culture of sissies protected by balding middle-aged white men. Holy shit, sometimes I want to get off this wilrd ride.

I take special attention to Zoe Quinn's case, where she cries harassment (The Girl Who Cried Misogyny), and then, everytime the spotlight gets away from her, she posts something to fuel the flames of her professional victimization. At least we got confirmation from a third party that she's a compulsive liar. I can't wait for those balding middle-aged videogame bloggers to throw her under the bus, because she's getting quite expensive for them.

I also found it funny that Anita tweeted once "All this trouble for us women in tech". Ha ha ha, she makes youtube videos. Why the hell does that make her a woman in tech. It's like you said. Those people are pampered by some white guilty trippers, and then think they're above criticism.

Adria Richards, another "woman in tech" but really just a bio-hostess from human resources. Spokemodel. Den mother. Schoolmarm. Alphafemal slut-shamer. Serial theory here: women seem to have a mirror image of male autism that displays in blindness to physical mechanisms but is magical-retard superpowered to sense the "feels." Temple Grandin described the male version of this "bimboism" personality type in the form of car salesmen. Born bullshit artists and middle management types. They're useful for evolution but damn do they get expensive. Yeah, it's all about Bimbos vs. Nerds these days.

Wow, this really hit the point. I went to a job fair today which featured a panel aimed for "women in tech". Being a woman, I decided to sit in...big mistake. This was my first time experiencing such an "uplifting talk" (hm, yes). Afterwards I felt alienated, and somewhat embarrassed. There was a lot of talk about falling victim to men in the industry, (may I note that I have never experienced this). But more so, I was made to feel that my technical skills and love for coding was "nerdy"; to get anywhere in the tech industry you need a cocky attitude and a big (annoying) personality, NOT a technical brain. I realize now after reading your post that I am not in the wrong, I am simply a "woman making tech", and I thank you for that :) Really good read.

Just as counter-intuitively, conservationist Wendell Berry argued that the notion of "the environment" is insidiously self-defeating, signifying "that which surrounds us" rather than "that to which we are integral." Maybe worth keeping in mind as both the environment Berry was writing about 50 years ago and the one inhabited by "women in tech" continue to be degraded.

Actually, the questions I'm inclined to ask are:

1. On what do you base the claim that Kathy Sierra is "mentally ill?"

and

2. Did you dox her?

Clearly you did not read the post as I firmly answered number 2 in it.

I know what you said. Were all those other quotes from you in the NYT article made up too?

And my first question stands.

One can merely read Sierra's incoherent, rambling writing to know that she suffers from serious mental illness. Beyond that, she's persisted with a serious delusion for years. She should probably be committed.

Awesome.
The proof of their malignant malevolence is precisely that they brook zero criticism.
Any criticism is labeled 'harassment.'
Spreading this far and wide.
