I disagree. Argument and debate doesn't only have the purpose of persuasion. It can be used as a form of expression. It can be used to strengthen one's beliefs. Argument can be a form of expression, but people who practice that end up stating fact and rambling off in order to show their own beliefs. It becomes more of a one-way discussion in which the listener is forced to decide his/her beliefs depending on what the "expressive" person says. And Whitney, people will always twist things in order to help their personal goals. If they fail to look to the future and determine what to leave behind for future generation, whether you agree with it or not, they will have a sense of meaninglessness in their lives.
