Thanksgiving prayers, Lesson learned I SWEAR

I AGAIN had to be in the ER with one of my children.
I failed as a parent for a split second and my child was >< that close to serious injury because of my laziness.
Lilly was in the cart at Sam's Club, YES standing (now past practice has been to sit so she would be safe) in the big part not in the seat part with the BELT!!

I was in front guiding so as not to get heels broke by wayward cart steerers, namely Rose and Kaylin. I stopped to look closely at something and kids stopped cart, FAST, out tumbles Lilly. I was not looking, I was trusting. I hear that ick sound that all us parents hate, someone hitting the ground hard. Turn and Lil is on floor spread eagled and bawling. OMG pick up baby, check, check, check. OMG head!! RUN!!!
I ran to the cafe, luckily Barbara was working, mgr of the cafe and someone I love talking to when there, she's watched all kids grow up and loves them all too. "Barb Ice NOw!" She (LOL only is it funny now) drops the pizzas, grabs the gloves off her hands, gets new gloves and fills them with ice. That was actually a great idea, small, smushable and no leaks. I sit with hollerin' Lilly right there on the floor against the shelves of soap and hold her with the ice. She starts getting all self-concious cuz all the mgrs come flock around her. "Do you want ice cream (someone gets that she eats a few teeny bites but too busy crying), do you want a slushy (one tiny sip), do you want candy (dumdums LOL)", some stocker comes up with this silly green kitty he spent $4 to get out of the claw machine!! Everyone was so concerned.

All the attention was making her cry more, I'm trying to do the checks to make sure she's ok. EYES, motor skills, don't fall asleep (tho the crying was helping that not happen), EYES, can you stand, move limbs, talk to mommy, EYES, leave the ice on honey. 20 minutes or so of this and I decide to take her to ER cuz the lump was HUGE and flat? Eyes were fine, pupils even, she talked, she cried tons, fought the ice the whole time, all good signs even so.

And all I was wanting to do was get her on the boob to help her feel better but all the mgrs are MEN, teehee. USUALLY I'd not worry, but didn't know how she'd latch on with all the hitchywhoocrying. And it was right around nap time and I knew if I nursed she'd sleep, and I wanted to take her to ER. Mgrs took name and number and most likely will call to make sure I don't sue, lordy! AS IF, I take full responsiblity that I was at fault, I will not sue! The whole truth and nothing but the truth.

ER was great, loved on her, gave stickers galore, xrays were EASY. Doc says her skull is as perfect as perfect can be. Just that she'll look like she's gone ten rounds w/George Foreman for a while. Her left eye is swelling up a bit since the healing fluids that come as a natural part of injury have no where to go. The poor baby. She's fine and that's all that matters, right??????

LESSON #446: Don't let kids ride in the basket section of carts. Sit in it where the strap is and lock 'em in or let them walk!!
