What if we were to cut through the junk and oppose homosexuality solely on the basis that it is morally wrong?

Moral oughts exist abstractly. So if the junk you're tired of includes "structured argument", which it seems to, then you are getting nowhere, sir, because you're not connecting to the abstract in a way that is helpful to anybody (except those who you know are already in the circle of your beliefs, unless you mean to be useful by making sure that people are protected from what you deem harmful). Now as to the means of that connection, you reach an interesting place when you start boiling it down. Look, I'm not sitting here saying,"People outside of A&M Christianity require a lot more of you" -- but people in the Bible-believing churches are fond of bewailing the fact that you can't communicate reasonably with these relativists because they think whatever they're comfortable with is what's valid for them, while all the while the staunch idea you confront relativists with -- which includes that le infinite whatsit sat down and had a book transcendently authored but somehow no longer chooses to clarify things verifiably -- doesn't ( ... )

wait...i thought that already was the basis we opposed it on. maybe im just confused.

i mean, haven't we established that we cant logic someone into believing in Christ, because they are captive to darkness and there's a veil before their eyes?

so does the same truth not apply, that we can't logic someone out of sin for the same reasons?

just a thought from a very brain-dead girl.

I have to agree with Neil. Even though there is absolute moral law, people still sin and go against it (obviously). However, to someone who is quite out of touch with absolute morality, what incentive do they have to change their lifestyle? Here is what I think: the goal is ultimately salvation for these people, or at least it should be. We obviously need to oppose homosexuality in the church. Read 1 Cor. 5:9-13. However, our focus on the unbelievers needs to be salvation first. Frankly, if there is no heart motive such as Jesus Christ in their lives, why would they cease their hedonistic lifestyle? Immorality has always existed, and in order to separate ourselves from it, we would have to leave this world.
