There is hardly any scientific method at work here, and if there were some third option for what they intended to do, I can only imagine the insane mind it would take to come up with it.

To feel so strongly would belittle situations of a worse nature. One could call it childish at best to believe that this is worth such a strong reaction, internal or otherwise.
