Owning My First Weim

It doesn't seem like this community is particularly active anymore, but I'm going to give this a shot anyways. So, I'm interested in purchasing my first weim and I'm nervous about the whole process. I have located several breeders in my area (MI), but would be willing to travel as far as Ohio or Chicago. How did you select a breeder? I've read

Never buy from a breeder....probably to late to tell you this but try all the rescues first....they have hundreds of dogs that need loving homes instead of breeders, that most have in humane conditions and care. Thanks.

search for local rescues in your area. Most states have a weimaraner rescue! You will find the best dog through these organizations... I volunteer out here in california for weimaraner rescue. the ones from the rescues are in need of a good home. you can tell the rescue what you are looking for... male, potty trained, friendly etc... what ever is important to you! Then they can find you the perfect fit! Good luck!
