my family just had a dinner discussion on the actual meaning of the word 'misunderestimate', that is, to underestimate someone or thing for the wrong reason. Later we discussed the possibility of forming contractions using other contractions, such as he'd've, meaning he would have (he + would've = he'd've).....does anyone else's family do this?

my mother and i just criticize people with bad taste in clothes.
contractions are strange enough as it is.

contractions such as "would've" sound so much similar to "would have" that the matter only lies on which forms sounds more aesthetically pleasing.

aaah yes but it would be more correct to say "i will not remember confessing this in a yaer..." is it not?

no, "will" implies determination. shall is the standard aux. for the future. you also are writing in the simple future; whereas, i write in the future perfect (+have).

i think the contractions things is purely southern usage.

but alas, i find myself using them and then when im writing out a paper i write "he'd've run away quietly" and i look at it for a min, push backspace, and refuse to ever admit it. alas, here i am ... i think its just a southern thing

i disagree. the northern part of the county contracts just as often. they take shortcuts just like we.

Errr, yeah, my family does things like that too. Although, I mean, to imagine my family, just imagine me, now clone me three times so there are four of me, stick all of the mes in a house together, and let them loose. And, so, yeah.

my mom, this morning: "Katie! I'm so happy! Charlie [referring to my dad] got my alarm clock thing out from under the toilet! I'm SO EXCITED! WEeeee!!!"
me: "..."
mom: "OMG SO HAPPY"
dad: "Yeah, it doesn't really take much to make her happy, does it?"
me: "what, no, i mean ... how the FUCK did your alarm clock get under the toilet!?!?"

And that is a fairly typical morning conversation at my house.
