I think the beginning was a bit stilted. If the entirety of the first part isn't absolutely necessary to the plot later, I'd just cut it all off (or, at the very least, shorten it a bunch) and start with the zombie kings, where things get really interesting.

That said, I am now dying to know what happens next.

Hm, yeah, that probably is the case. :P The entire thing is kinda spastic. I guess I put it in there because I felt like it needed some background before getting to the zombie kings part.

I don't normally read America- or Canada-centric fics, but I was drawn in by the mention of zombies, of which I am a crazed fan. Honestly, the whole beginning narrative, however unrelated it is to the rest of the plot, helped me get into the mindset of the characters (especially America's line, "Salt is awesome!"). I'm looking forward to future installments! Good job so far~
