Not an article but a book I read recently: The Black Death: an Intimate History by John Hatcher part-fictionalises an account of what happened in an English village, which allows him to make some interesting assumptions about what people felt and did during the time.

there's a really great book called plagues and peoples by william h. mcneill. it talks about the plague epidemically through out history, not specific to victorian or elizabethan eras.
