i think we're required to hate the world that the previous generations created, and then in 20 years look back and see that we've changed nothing, then spend the rest of our lives trying to cope with the fact that we've changed nothing.

This type of pessimism is beautiful because it doesn't interrogate our generation any different from previous or future generations - we all have it wrong and think we are gloriously righteous until our demise. Thanks Deirdre!
