weiss v saiyuki

Sep 19, 2013 20:37

Welcome to weissvsaiyuki! (ETA 5/15/2014: The welcome sticky post is now here.)

This community hosted a (friendly!) battle competition between Weiss Kreuz and Saiyuki from October 1 through November 4, 2013. ETA 11/5/2013: The battle is now complete!

For five weeks, a new theme will be announced every Tuesday. Some optional prompts will be available along with the theme if you prefer a prompt. The winning fandom will be the one that has the most submitted works by November 4 (9/30 ETA: to clarify--each post counts as one entry/work) (i.e., if there are 12 Weiss Kreuz works posted by the end of the battle and 11 Saiyuki works, Weiss Kreuz will "win." Awesomely, there is no loser because WE WILL HAVE 11 SAIYUKI WORKS and if that's not winning, too, idk what is).

How to post entries. Post your work in this community at any time during the theme week; the first day to post will be Tuesday and the last day to post on that theme is the following Monday. (You must join the community to post in it. Membership is moderated [to avoid spam], so it may take me a few hours to approve you depending on the time of day/yr humble mod's access to a computer.)

Please place images, large quantities of text, and anything NSFW behind a cut. Posting format:

Fandom: (Weiss Kreuz or Saiyuki)
Title: (optional)
Author/Artist:
Warnings: (worksafe/not worksafe, any other warnings)
Pairing(s): (optional)
Notes: (optional)
(The posting format is mandatory, but you are welcome to then provide a link to your work on AO3, your own LJ/DW, dA, tumblr, flickr, instagram, ETC., if you prefer not to place your work in the body of your post.)

You may post on a theme as many times during the week as you wish. You can contribute posts throughout the five-week battle or just post one time or a bajillionty times--there are no commitments or (many) limits (except your FANDOM LOVE). (ETA 9/25: A Schuldig- or Ukoku-esque thought occurs. In the spirit of not obliterating dear followers' f-lists, a player can only make up to six posts per day. I can't imagine this will truly be an issue, but just on the off-chance an unconventional battle strategy was brewing. ;) Chin Yisou and Reiji Takatori would have been proud!) Your various works don't have to be related to each other. You don't have to commit to one fandom, you can switch sides at will!

Works. All media are welcome: fic (drabbles, epic-length fic, anything in between), art (as complex or simple as you wish), cosplay, fanvids, interpretive dance--wherever your creativity takes you. AU or canon or somewhere in between--all are welcome. 9/21 ETA: you are welcome to post an appropriately-themed entry from a series you write (i.e., if you have a Crawford/Farfarello space cowboys series of fics, you're welcome to post a new story about their experience in a brothel during "prostitution"-themed week 4).

Rules. Follow the posting format. No posts that are not entries/works. Shota/underage sex is not allowed. Be kind to your fellow fans.

PROJECTED THEMES AND PROMPTS:
The following themes are the battlefields upon which we will meet each week. Their accompanying prompts are completely optional--the general theme is the only mandatory part.

Since the themes are all laid out in advance, you are ttly welcome to plan ahead and spend weeks working on something to post for, say, Week 5. Or you can take the theme announcements as they come each Tuesday and set yourself short deadlines. Play as you will!

(It's okay if your current work happens to overlap a theme from another week--i.e., Week 1, you find there are hookers in your frenemies fic. No problem. As long as the, uh, thrust of your work falls under the theme of "they started as enemies [etc]," nothing else matters--you're golden.) (And hey, you're welcome to post a sequel in Week 4 when hookerfic is in vogue!)

------------

WEEK 1: We Found Each Other Hungry (days to post on this theme: October 1-October 7)
They started as enemies.
frenemies, hatesex, mistaken identities, relationship evolution, etc.

INSPIRATION/OPTIONAL PROMPTS:

Not realizing the other's identity, they fell into an intense relationship that was threatened by its discovery.

"All warfare is based on deception." --Sun Tzu

The rumor mill had lots of theories as to how their lifelong rivalry had begun, but no one knew for sure. When they were assigned to work together, everyone discreetly relocated to a minimum safe distance.

A lethal yakuza enforcer comes to the attention of his opposite in a rival organization.

To possess him, he must destroy him.

------------

WEEK 2: Haven't We Met Before? (days to post on this theme: October 8-14)
Forces conspire to keep your OTP apart, but love conquers all. (Or does it?)
amnesia, reincarnation, reunion after a long absence, foresight/deja-vu/predestination, etc.

INSPIRATION/OPTIONAL PROMPTS:

After being separated in childhood, they meet again as adults and near-strangers.

He's never met someone who felt so much like home before. That probably means it's a trap.

Finally!

He knows he's going to miss this opportunity for connection with him, and he'll miss the next one, too. In 200 years they'll have their first perfect window in centuries.

Tabula rasa

------------

WEEK 3: What We Do is Secret (days to post on this theme: October 15-21)
We're not everything you think we are. Or are we?
pretend!boyfriends, undercover cops, secret agents with fake lives, etc.

INSPIRATION/OPTIONAL PROMPTS:

This cover story has its perks.

He reminded himself that he should've learned by now that if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

If you want an adoring boyfriend for 48 hours, he will give you an adoring boyfriend for 48 hours.

First of all, if they got married it would never be as cloyingly domestic as this. Second of all, there would be a lot more blood.

------------
WEEK 4: By the Hour AND/OR Can't Touch This (days to post on this theme: October 22-28) (due to a tie in the poll, this week has two themes to choose from!)

By the Hour (days to post on this theme: October 22-28)
Transactions.high class escorts, street corner prostitutes, brothels, host clubs, sugar daddies, kept men, etc.

They definitely weren't getting paid enough for this client.

He had no idea what the protocol was when you ran into your ex while he was working in the red light district.

They booked... unusual... clients who had a taste for the... unusually gifted... escorts they offered.

Can't Touch This (days to post on this theme: October 22-28)
Forbidden fruit.
incest, infidelity, class divide, illicit love, secret love, societal homophobia, etc.

INSPIRATION/OPTIONAL PROMPTS:

They'd waited long enough.

He never fully realized how bad it would get for his lover after they were discovered.

Just a brush of his fingertips against the back of his hand would last him the entire week.

------------

WEEK 5: Unnatural Tendencies (days to post on this theme: October 29-November 4)
The supernatural.vampires, the undead, hauntings, psychic ability, magic, mythological creatures, demons, etc.

INSPIRATION/OPTIONAL PROMPTS:

He loves him even more after he brings him back from the dead.

"I think I should warn you all--when a vampire bites it, it's never a pretty sight. No two bloodsuckers go the same way. Some yell and scream, some go quietly, some explode, some implode, but all will try to take you with them." --The Lost Boys

Until he met him, he was the best psychic in the country. And then he wasn't anymore.

"Civilization is like a thin layer of ice upon a deep ocean of chaos and darkness." -- Werner Herzog

Incubus Schuldig and Incubus Yohji meet and decided to have a contest to see who can lay the most people in a weekend. Bonus points if If they both try to get Aya, extra bonus points if it becomes an orgy. (I'm a sick sick puppy) -- prompt by chorus_of_chaos

Whether you intend to play or not, you can offer up optional prompts related to the battle themes in the comments below; maybe an intrigued player will take you up on it! Please note for which week/theme you're prompting. (example: "week 4/prostitution: Hakkai/Gojyo - modern day AU - Hakkai's boss hires him a hooker, and if he values his career, he can't say no. luckily this Gojyo guy is fairly intriguing, if not terribly tidy.")

The first week of posting begins October 1. Questions? Please comment below!
