2012 Fic Year in Review

Dec 31, 2012 19:50

My fanfiction posted in 2012 = 360,526 words (in 64 stories)

I wrote a total of 637,477 words in 2012, which gives you an idea of how many WIPS I have on my computer. (Also, I wrote every day!)

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
I posted about the same as last year, so that's about right, I wrote nearly double that in terms of words, which is just a little scary!

What's your favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?
Captain America Vs Mega Dildotron 2000 makes me grin every single time, just by looking at the title. I don't think this series will ever be finished, but I do love it dearly. Dildo hammer. *snickers*

Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
The riskiest thing I've done is probably the content of some of my pieces (the Teen Wolf Big Bang in particular). Which I think came out pretty well and it was well received, so I guess I learned that to write what you need to write, regardless of what people might think.

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?
Write every day (which I did do for 2012!). Finish the Isaac/Danny piece that's been sitting on my computer for the past four months. Write the next two pieces in my Live with the Wolves series. Actually finish some of the other WIPs that are calling for my attention.

My Best Story of the Year
Edge of the Circle, which is my Natasha gangbang piece for the Avengers movieverse fandom. For me this is a character voice story, which might be an odd thing for a gangbang piece to be, but I find it to be a very strong story.

Story Most Under appreciated by the Universe in My Opinion
Soldiers Stay Eternal, my SGA reversebang from this year. This is an AU noir piece, where Atlantis is a city on Earth sometime in the future, and John is a private detective. I really loved weaving various characters and settings into this story and it is one of my favorites to reread.

Most Fun Story
Beyond the Call of Duty and Family. This is the first in my 'Sheriff Stilinski becomes Pack' series, and I love writing from his point of view and I love sappy, silly, fluffy, angsty pack fic, so this just hits all of my buttons.

Most Sexy Story
This is a tie, partially because these two fics kind of belong together anyway. They're both Teen Wolf fics from Lydia's point of view, and both are where the pack has a flexible relationship status. Like a Sleepy Blue Ocean and Find Warmth in My Arms

Hardest Story to Write
Absolution, my Teen Wolf Big Bang. The content for this story was particularly hard to write towards the end. I wouldn't say I hit a stumbling block with this, but there was a point during the 'big reveal' that I realized that this was hitting a little closer to home than I had intended.

Biggest Surprise
My biggest surprise for the year fandom-wise would be falling in love with Teen Wolf. The Courage to Destroy, which belongs to an AU series where the members of BAU Team from Criminal Minds are serial killers, was probably my biggest surprise in writing. Writing from the view point of the villain, and being able to get into that headspace, was rather unsettling.

Fandoms I Entered in 2012
Teen Wolf (July 2012), and Avengers movieverse (May 2012) were the two fandoms I've joined this year, and I've pretty well exited from Criminal Minds and Stargate. I am kind of a serial fandom monogamist and right now Teen Wolf has all my love.

Communities and Big Bangs of 2012
Land Comms:
I finished out the last phases of Stargateland and Crimeland.
I joined Beacon Hills, the Teen Wolf Land Comm.

Big Bangs:
Absolution (Teen Wolf Big Bang)
Science and Health Intelligence Enrichment for Live Development Summer Camp (Avengers Reverse Bang)
Soliders Stay Eternal (SGA Reverse Bang)
Vampires, and Werewolves, and Wormholes, Oh My! (Summer of Stargate Big Bang)
