Characters: Buffy and Xander
Location: Buffy house, cemetery, and hospital
Description: One owwie, two owwie
Xander: Xander grabbed his favorite axe, he'd just finished sharpening it and was getting ready. Buffy would be patroling tonight, probably the best time to tell her about Angel. The blue jeans gave way to the black t-shirt as Xanger got off the couch and grabbed his black leather jacket, chilly nights all of a sudden. He tightened his boots one last time before walking to the door.
Buffy: Buffy was already outside waiting, her long hair pulled back into a tight, restrictive plait. They had decided since the bringer had excited all the demons in the area, to start patrolling in twos. She had her denim jacket on, it covered a white shirt and she wore a pair of faded blue denim jeans along with some black boots. She had her sword sheathed across her back, knives were attached to her thighs and stakes as always were deposited safely in her pockets.
Xander: Xander glanced behind him one last time before stepping outside, "Oh, there you are." Xander closed the door and locked it, "Didn't see you go out." Xander choked up on the axe, "Sorry to keep you waiting." He swallowed a rather large lump in his throat as he walked up next to her.
Buffy: " Don't worry about it." Buffy muttered with a shake of her head before she set off at a walk. Her senses were on high alert and her eyes watched the surrounding area for any sign of trouble.
Xander: Xander walked next to her, he looked at her every so often, "So, how have you been?" The question seemed so weird. He'd been so distant the last couple of days, busy with so much, confused the rest of time. His eye looked around over and over, glancing behind them every so often.
Buffy: Buffy shrugged her shoulders." I've been okay. Nothing to write home about though." She turned a corner and ran her eyes over the nearby graveyard, it was strange. Not one vampire, you would think they'd be out doing their "i will suck your blood" thing but they just weren't. It didn't sit too well with the Slayer." You?"
Xander: Xander shook his head, "You'd think I could live a quiet life being in a hell mouth and having one eye. I ran into Anya, and she didn't forcibly rip my spine out, ran into Ethan, ya know creepy dude with the costume weirdness couple of Halloweens back in Sunnydale, and then accosted by Sebastian." Xander sighed and ran a hand through the mess that was his hair.
Buffy: " I had a little run in with Anya as well." Buffy commented offhandedly, no emotion behind it. She really was in her not caring place, just wanted to kill something, anything. She really couldn't fathom why she was in one of these moods, she just was." And Ethan huh? What rock did he crawl out from under and do I need to put him back under said rock?"
Xander: "No, I put him in place, good right cross and a toss into a garbage pile. Spouting some nonsense about talking to Giles. I could care less especially with what he put us through." Xander felt the hairs on his neck bristle, thinking about what he was saying was making the adrenaline rush come on too quickly. "Big talk, nothing behind it." Xander skipped the Anya story, figure it wasn't anything spectacular.
Buffy: " Hmm good to know." Buffy mused before she stopped and scanned the area once more. Something was definitely out there but where was it." Did you say you got accosted by Sebastian?" Buffy suddenly asked, her mind only just catching that.
Xander: "Yea. Surprisingly enough didn't kill me, bite me, or nothing. He's not feeling like himself to put it one way." Xander thought he heard something, he put his back to Buffy's and scanned the other direction.
Buffy: Buffy lifted an eyebrow." What do you mean, not feeling like himself?"
Xander: "Turns out what we interrupted at the warehouse, whatever Sebastian was doing, pissed off the apocalypse bringer and to teach Sebastian a lesson, they switched Sebastian and Angel's bodies." Xander swallowed because whatever was out there hadn't made it's move yet, what was it waiting for?
Buffy: " Oh boy.." Buffy started but was promptly cut off by something charging into her side. She let out a slight breath before she felt herself falling and then something sharp sunk into her side, eliciting a cry of pain from the Slayer's lips. Her blood gushed out from around the wound now inflicted on her side. The sharp blue bone still in her side belonged to a rather large green demon with blood red eyes, she had never seen anything like it. Buffy ignored the pain in her side, her hand moving to grip the hilt of her sword as she pulled it free and cut out in a wide arc. The demon howled as the slash cut it across its chest, there was a spark. Like when metal hit metal, and the sword didn't cause any damage but stunned the demon just enough so it pulled away from Buffy.
Xander: Xander was facing one direction and now was dizzy. The demon had clipped him on the way by. He shook his head finally seeing the monstrosity in front of him, but he was behind it. Xander brought the axe up over his head and with a cry brought down onto what he only could guess was it's back, but the axe didn't do the slicy and the dicey, it clanged, loudly. This thing was made of metal. The demon turned quickly, its arm leading the way knocking Xander into the side of mausoleum.
Buffy: Buffy pulled herself to her feet and dove at the demon. Three punches connected with its face, forcing it to stagger a little to one side. Her knee lifted and drove into its stomach, managing to force some of the air from its lungs. Her blood now stained her jeans several shades of red but she was ignoring it, focused on this demon. Her eyes shot to Xander." Xander? You okay?" She shouted, ducking under a punch and jumping a kick, how were they meant to kill this thing?
Xander: Xander peeled himself off the concrete wall, with growl deep in his throat, he came back to the waking world, "I'm ok." He worked something in his mouth and spit red to the wall. He ran and used a tombstone as a launch point, he placed a drop kick to the thing's head and let himself land to the soft earth. He growled again, he was just making the bruising worse. "Metal...metal...metal..." A million plans ran through Xander's head, "Junk yard." He said sweeping the ground with his axe landing a shot to the lower thigh of the demon, but not doing anything. He ditched the axe and leapt back before the things weapons could impale him.
Buffy: Buffy jumped up, forcing both of her feet into the demon's chest. It actually pushed the demon back through the air to land hard in a nearby wall but Buffy dropped to the ground on her back and she groaned as the sudden impact disturbed the fresh wound on her side." What we need is a little electricity." Buffy shouted, moving back to grab the demon by it's neck, hauling it up to hit it once more. She got forced to the ground by a few more punches and she spat out some blood as she turned, connecting a kick with the side of the demon's face.
Xander: "Better." Xander looked around as quickly as possible and saw an electrical line running to nearby shed, probably the ground's keepers. "On it." Xander grabbed the axe seeing the opportunity and ran to the shack. Xander placed a boot to the sole door on the shack knocking it in. He grabbed an old rickety ladder and started climbing. The roof was steep and he used the axe to anchor him.
Buffy: A slightly choking sound could be heard as the demon wrapped its hands around Buffy's neck. She wrapped her own hands around the demon's wrists and attempted to pry its hands from around her neck. Eventually she was able to break a finger and it dropped her. She let out a slight oof noise as she landed in a crouch. She braced her hands on the ground and kicked out at its legs and brought the giant monster down before she simply clambered atop of it and started to hit its face.
Xander: She had placed him perfectly, but she was a lightening rod. Xander raised the axe, "Buffy move!" Xander brought the axe down clipping the wire.
Buffy: Buffy's head snapped up before her eyes widened and she sprung to the side. The demon wrapped its hand around her ankle and she snarled, swinging her other foot around to hit at the demon's face before it eventually let go and the wire made contact and sure enough, fried demon. Its body shook on the ground as it jerked for a moment or two.
Xander: Xander got back down on solid ground and ran over to her, "Buffy are you alright?" Xander dropped the axe to the ground as he ran over to her.
Buffy: She inhaled sharply as she attempted to shift to her feet. Her one hand was clasped tightly around the wound to her side and she already had several bruises and cuts forming across her skin." Just peachy." She muttered a little sarcastically before she eventually stopped as she rested on her knees.
Xander: "You suck at lying." Xander said with levity as he pulled off his jacket and pulled his shirt off, a white undershirt underneath. He started tearing the black shirt into strips. The coppery fluid filling his mouth was swallowed back, giving him a sick feeling. He placed a wad over the wound and used the rest to tie it in place. "We gotta get back to the house, that's deep, very deep. Can you walk?"
Buffy: Buffy swallowed hard, her head spinning just a little." Yeah, I think so. I've had worse." She said in the faint attempt to lighten the mood, she eventually got to her feet and looked back at the demon." One second." She swung her sword round in her hand and brought it down, severing the demon's head from its neck." You can never be too sure."
Xander: Xander winced, "You're just lucky the wire is now over there and still not connected to him or you'd be like him as well." Xander picked up his axe and slipped under her arm to support her. He grabbed the sword, "Come on, I think this explains the low amount of creepies tonight."
Buffy: Buffy groaned just a little." Yeah, they're the sensible ones." She rested an arm over Xander's neck and put conscious thought in getting her feet to move.
Xander: Xander snorted, "We're sensible, we just like to fight more than hide." Xander smirked as he watched Buffy tried to get her feet moving, "I could just carry you. I mean, I am a strapping young man."
Buffy: At this point, Buffy arched an eyebrow at Xander before she shook her head." I can walk." Her blood streaked her skin and her clothes. It seemed to be staining the makeshift gauze.
Xander: Xander conceded, "Alright, alright, just checking. Sorry." The shuffled out of the cemetery, things staying quiet. Xander did his best not to stress the wound as they walked.
Buffy: Buffy was focusing on breathing and ignoring the pain as best she could. It didn't help her world was spinning slightly." I wonder where that demon came from."
Xander: "Two choices, hell mouth or apocalypse bringer." If he had any, he needed a job. "We're gonna need Giles to ID it, shoulda brought the head home with us and stored it in the freezer." Xander shrugged as they turned on to the street.
Buffy: Buffy smirked." I ought to start collecting trophies. Kinda like the predator." She placed her free hand over her wound and continued to walk alongside Xander.
Xander: "Oh...Maybe you could start your own hunting club. Maybe that could be the new watcher's council. Oh, you could be like Steve Erwin...oh crickey." Xander tried his best impression, but he wasn't an actor. They got the door and got inside. Xander got the med kit to take care of the wounds.
Buffy: Buffy groaned at Xander's impression before she sunk into the nearest chair and raised her shirt to peer at the wound. It looked and felt mean that was for sure.
Xander: Xander got the cleaner out and hissed, "Too close for comfort." He dabbed at the wound with a cotton ball, "He was an inch higher..." Xander shook his head, "You got lucky." He smirked as he threw the used cotton ball away.
Buffy: She bit down on her lip slightly as the cotton ball worked over her wound." Seems to be my middle name." She smirked softly and sighed gently.
Xander: "I thought it was Anne." Xander shrugged and placed a clean pad on the wound. He grabbed the medical tape and wrapped it around her torso. A few winds and she was fine. "You have had worse, but check it in the morning. Make sure it's healing correctly." Xander checked the other cuts and bruises, but they were already mending. He started packing up the kit.
Buffy: Buffy mock saluted Xander before she rested into her chair and threaded her hands through her hair." Well, this has been a fun..night?"
Xander: Xander sat down wincing, something shifted inside of him. He wiped his mouth noting a crimson line across his knuckles. "Could have been worse. So what's been happening with work?"
Buffy: Buffy peeked one eye open." You okay?" She had noticed the wince.
Xander: "I hope so." Xander swallowed, feeling light headed, "I mean, I've been thrown into walls harder. At least, I thought so." Xander took a deep breath, but it hurt half way and he ended up coughing it out. He covered his mouth, but his hand was stained with blood, "Oh, that's not good."
Buffy: Buffy sighed and shifted, biting back her own wince of pain." Looks like it's a trip to the hospital for you. We'll just say you got mugged or something." With that, she moved through the house and pulled out some keys. Once she had the car keys, she moved back to help Xander to his feet.
Xander: Xander head tipped down, "Dammit." He got to his feet, "You ok to drive, we could just call an ambulance." He moved with her to the door. This was not the ending to the night he was hoping.
Buffy: " I can drive." Buffy muttered, slipping her arm around Xander's waist, helping him move until she got to the door. She shut the door after them both and made sure to lock it before she walked to where the car was parked.
Xander: Xander slipped into the car. He leaned in the seat. "Sorry Buff." He stretched out. "I don't know what happened. I was fine and then...this." Xander wiped his hand on his jeans.
Buffy: Buffy shut the passenger car door before she trailed round to slip into the driver's seat." I think it has something to do with your crashing into the wall thing." She slid the key into the ignition and started the car before reversing and setting off towards the hospital.
Xander: "But, we made it home, there was nothing..." Xander coughed again keeping his mouth shut and swallowing what came up.
Buffy: " Adrenaline Xander, it makes you think or feel things differently." Buffy pointed out, glancing across at Xander a few times before she turned down another road, they were close to the hospital.
Xander: Xander was glad she was there, "Thanks Buffy." He groaned as the pulled up the emergency entrance. "Looks like my stop." He smiled, his eye half lidded.
Buffy: Buffy slipped out of her side and moved to Xander's, she pulled open the door and helped Xander out." No going to sleep or I will hit you." Buffy mock threatened as she moved her friend towards the waiting doors of the hospital.
Xander: "Duly noted." Xander swallowed as they got inside, "Did I ever tell you I hate hospitals." A nurse with a wheelchair came up to them and greeted them.
"Take a seat." she said simply. "What happened?"
"Breathing is short, coughing up blood." Xander managed as he sat down.
Buffy: " We had an altercation with some muggers." Buffy commented, she really did hate hospitals. Ever since the time with her mother.
Xander: The nurse nodded, "Alright, we'll get him checked out. Just fill these out and leave them at the desk. When all is said and done we'll call you and let you know." The nurse handed Buffy a clipboard and got behind the wheel chair, "He'll be alright."
"Hear that, I'll be alright." Xander said as he was wheeled away to an examination room.
Buffy: Buffy sighed, her eyes returning to the clipboard. Whoopee. She ignored the injury to her side as she moved to take a seat, settling in to fill out the very boring but necessary papers.
