Ugh, 42 days to go. I'm getting restless, so restless. ihysfm, offseason. So to kill the time til then, let's talk about our teams and the moves they've made (or haven't) thus far this winter.
The Marlins continue to frustrate me with everything they do (or, rather, don't do). I wish they would just come out and say that they're keeping Uggs until at least the trade deadline, so I can stop refreshing MLBTR every 20 minutes to see if something's happening. I also wish Jeffrey Loria would die in a fire.
The Red Sox actually could be a pretty damn good team, but I still think they're missing one piece, which would be a big bat in the middle of the order (cough Adrian Gonzalez cough). Ells and Clay to SD, stat! Get it done, Theo ... or not.
But the rest of his moves - Scutaro, Beltre, trading Kotchman for Hall (who can't hit worth a shit but can play every position relatively well), Lackey ... I like them. I still don't see where Herm fits in on this team, but uh, we'll see.
In other news, TRUCK DAY IS FEB. 12th (for the Red Sox), which is FIVE WEEKS AWAY. We can do this, guys. It's almost over!
My team traded THE BEST CENTER FIELDER EVER (Granderson). and a pretty dang good pitcher (Jackson). for young guys. and we lost THE BEST 2ND BASEMAN EVER (Polanco). but we didn't resign "Demon Drop" Rodney. and Laird actually hit something! and got arrested for it and that was pretty hilarious.
Yeah idk. I guess since they traded Granderson, Clete will get more playing time? and because we lost Polanco, maybe Michael Hollimon will make the team as a back up!? ....yeah, I can dream.
Basically my team (really the general manager) is effing retarded and that is not news. It was pretty much the same way last off-season. All I really know about the trades is we lost Max Scherzer and I don't think we've gained anyone of real high value to the team. Overall, I feel no optimism for us getting better this year.
... Then again, Dbacks were at an all-time low last year, so the only place to go is up?
I'm going to spring training this year and I can hardly contain my excitement! I've got to admit that I was crushed when the Twins traded Gomez but I suppose it was for the best because he did make some considerable mistakes this year. They probably could have made a better trade but whatever. Glad that they made the move to keep Pavano but the pitching staff still needs work.
I'm going, too :oD. Red Sox, not Twins, but same town, LOL. Have you ever been to Ft. Myers? It is a gorgeous, gorgeous beach town. So nice. Have a great time!
