Just because we're female...

Jul 14, 2010 14:04

...Doesn't mean that we can't love baseball for the game itself (of course, some of the guys ARE hot;)). I'm sick of the guys who act like because we ARE female, we can't know and love baseball. Anyways, what are y'all's favorite team(s)? Detroit Tigers for me, though I love the Boston Red Sox and baseball in general. :)

I totally hear you on this. I was out shopping with my mom one day and was wearing one of my Yankee player tees. An employee of the store that we were in was a fellow Yankee fan and was like "oh, of course you'd be wearing a Jeter shirt." I looked him right in the face and said "ACTUALLY, Mussina is my favorite player, but thanks," and walked out.

Just because we have a set of tits doesn't mean that we understand or love it any less. And in my opinion, the STUPID pink merchandise doesn't help our cause.

Ah, that would have p*ssed me off so much. Lol No, the pink stuff doesn't help, thought it IS for a good cause.

Oh, agreed. It's totally for a good cause. But I know people who wear it just because it's pink and they think it's "cute." Uhh, no. You don't wear your team gear to make a fashion statement. You wear it to show love for your boys.

But I guess at the end of the day, it isn't the color of the gear that gives us a bad reputation. It's the fangirls who don't even know what RBI stands for.

Oh, come on, anybody knows that "RBI" stands for "Red Bugs Intelligence". Hahaha, I randomly thought that up. Yeah, I know. I hate when girls do that.

I've never really had a problem with men when it comes to sports. I've actually had some great convos about sports with some of the guys I work with. Even on websites, I've never really gotten crap for liking sports because I may find certain players hot. Actually, a lot of it tends to be from other females.

I've never had an issue with my reasoning for loving baseball being questioned by the majority of the guys I know. They get that I admire the majority of the players that I like because they are doing what I wish I could do for a living and are doing it well (enough). In fact, if anything I usually make fun of my boys for their man crushes on players. Then again, I think they know better than to poke at me if I happen to mention how hot and bothered long balls, high socks and Varitek's thighs get me, because I've proved myself (the fact I had to, though, sucks). I know stats, names, history and can hold my own in a conversation. The fact I've worked in baseball for two seasons and sports radio for three and had a baseball related show for one of those years also seems to help ( ... )

I think for me right now is the feel of the team and area we're in. Back in Bingo it was never an issue. Everyone outside of the owners and GM's where in the 20's, so it was just like being back in school and we were all friends and they were all too busy trying to get with my roommates. I was the little sister and only once did one of the guys cross that line while we were walking back home (my place was next door to one of the player houses). But here, I guess since they are "Yankees" or what have you, they feel like girls would jump at the chance of heading home with them. And just like you said, don't flatter yourself.

My male friends actually love talking sports with me... they seem to love it that they can mention something and I will know exactly what they're talking about! I haven't experienced much negativity towards me for being a big baseball/sports fan. I'd imagine it would be much different if you worked in the business though, it's awful a few of you have to deal with that!

I'm a Diamondbacks fan, to answer the other part of the question. I like the Twins too.

I have yet to run into a guy like that. Usually, though, that's how I meet guys, I (politely) jump in to a conversation if they're talking about sports. And yeah, I get some crap at first but after they realize I actually do know what I'm talking about (most of the time ^_^) they really get into the conversation with me.

My favorite teams are the Milwaukee Brewers, first and foremost, and the White Sox second, because I have to love a team from my former home state!
