an unexplained cable television outage has befallen our apartment, leaving me impotent in my desire to watch the middle third of the AandE version of pride and prejudice (the one with colin firth, the only one worth watching), which is airing as we speak on the newly truncated "masterpiece" (formerly masterpiece theater). a tragedy to be sure, but ( Read more... )

For the first half of Mansfield Park, I was entirely driven by hatred. The character of Mrs. Norris was so immediately repugnant that I couldn't wait to get to the part where she was torn apart by savage wolves.

All of the rigmarole of country dancing and stilted manners and awkward courtship rituals I could do without. But the possibility that Mrs. Norris might befall some inconceivably horrible fate, that was enough for me.

She got her comeuppance, but alas, there were no wolves.

I love that version of pride and prejudice.
The comcast stuff is fishy. We lost a bunch of channels Friday night and all were gone by Saturday morning. RJ called them and they immediately fixed it over the phone. HOWEVER, they also convinced us to switch to digital cable by offering us a year at a special rate and PROMISING that after that year the rate will only go back up to what we are currently paying.
So, I think they are screwing with the cable to get people to call them.

Comcast called and said the cable should be fixed now. But we still need to call them after we have verified this to cancel the Friday service call.

They gave no explanation as to why we didn't get to see the Puppy Bowl.

it turns out neither are we! so in addition to cutting out the cable in a broad swath of center city, they are also big fat liars.
