Day 19 - A song from your favorite album
“Tales of Brave Ulysses”-Cream. My favorite album of all time is Disraeli Gears. I feel that it is part of my soul. That song is all kinds of gorgeous and amazing. The wah-pedal, the distortion, Jack’s voice-and the lyrics. Straight-up poetry. Amazing stuff.
Day 20 - A song that you listen to when you’re angry
“Sowing Season (Yeah)”-Brand New. This used to be my favorite band in the world, and I still love them. Jesse Lacey is such a pro at being angry, and the instrumentation backs this up quite well. My favorite line EVER in a Brand New song: “I am not your friend/I am just a man who knows how it feels/I’m not your friend, I’m not your lover, I’m not your family/YEAH!” Anytime I’m pissed I can scream it out along with the Long Island boys.
Day 21 - A song that you listen to when you’re happy
“Good Vibrations”-The Beach Boys
Everything about this song is breezy and sunny and joyful. It’s good driving music. All of the different parts of the song are equally wonderful (intro, chorus, verses, bridge, breakdown, outro, etc.), which is rare in a song. Usually there’s one really good part and the rest just can’t compare. From start to finish, “Good Vibrations” makes my soul soar and my heart smile. Lol.
