Seemingly "easy target" and "pretty well justified rage"or not, that kind of behavior is inexcusable.

Agreed; but I'm not going to get into a fistfight in the street over words, and getting into a longer verbal argument with him would also have been a waste of my time and beneath my dignity. But laughing in his face was a calculated response.

I was walking down the street in my neighborhood the other day, in a hurry, when I heard a guy yelling at me from a van. I was in rush mode, and kind of tuning it out, and only when I was nearly around the corner did it register that he was asking if I had the time. I half-paused, feeling sort of bad/guilty for having automatically ignored him, and then I heard him yell "Cracka'!" and slam his van door. After that, I didn't feel guilty at all.

That's right, van guy--I didn't tell you the time because I'm white. *eyeroll*
