This comes out of a conversation from elsewhere which I dropped because I didn't want to badger anyone. Just...word. I mean, that's exactly it: when you're talking AT someone and commanding their attention when they don't want to give it, you're making it clear that you don't care what they want. When you escalate from conversation to flirting, it becomes more loathsome/scary because if they're not willing or unable to see what you do or don't want when you're just talking, what does that mean about their being able to accept "no" for an answer in a more intimate setting? Half of the Nice Guys(TM) out there would get sooo much more play if they backed off when it was clear a woman wouldn't respond. Because showing you respect women is actually attractive. So, rather than be marked a loser who is a potential threat by one woman, you lose her attention, go try your luck elsewhere, and you've demonstrated you're not a creep, which may interest people around you. Or even that first woman ( ... )
