Moriarty TWINS? Now that is an incredibly scary thought which had never crossed my mind. I don't believe that just because Jim was emotionally unstable and no quite sane, he could also be a criminal mastermind but the idea of there being two Jim or even three Jims is very interesting.
I personally interpreted the Jim Moriarty returns at the end of HLV as a ploy by mycroft to not have to send Sherlock to Eastern Europe. He did specifically say: there will be a time when this country needs Sherlock with such conviction in the board room meeting. I reckon he had it all figured out long before the plane took off. I imagine the assignment that Mycroft was supposed to send Sherlock on was every bit as dangerous as everyone thought, this was why Sherlock would not be allowed to ever leave the country.
I mean in order to hack into every single broadcasting tv screen, computer etc in the country: that definitely sounds like something right up Mycroft's alley,
I'm also a fan of the theory that Janine is a Moriarty, placed near Magnussen (or given to him as collateral of some sort by Jim). Since Moriarty seems to like the medium of television and broadcasting, who better to have in your pocket than a media mogul. Also who better to have the keys to the kingdom than his PA, Jim's sister. We know Magnussen treated her harshly, flicking her in the eye as he did John. You don't do that to a good PA unless you have something on her and know she won't leave (or sue). I can see Janine orchestrating or assisting with a little show to keep Sherlock in the country. It's entirely possible that she's working with Mycroft to the same end: keep Sherlock alive by not sending him on a suicide mission
( ... )
Interesting. I had thought that "the other one" actually referred to the last guy they sent off to do what they were sending Sherlock off to do - that the last guy had met a bad end, and therefore Mycroft wasn't actually doing Sherlock a huge favour in sending him off to certain death. Can't wait to see what they have in store for us!
It hadn't occurred to me that "the other one" could be "the other one (we sent on this mission already, who is now dead)" instead of "the other one (of my brothers)" which makes a lot of sense, actually.
ooh, very interesting! If this is true, how heartbreaking! Mycroft inventing an imaginary brother to hide the truth of his own sentimental weakness for Sherlock...
This is so fascinating! I love the idea of Mycroft creating this character to hide his love for Sherlock and to protect his power base. I'd love a scene in the show where Mycroft confirms this and uses it to show Sherlock how much he loves him, it's such a sweet notion.
YAY! Glad to see you take an interest in the Sherlock fandom again. No comments about this intriguing take on HLV's ending. Frankly I'm still thoroughly disgusted by that ep.
Yes I'm finally back! I have missed fandom so much but real life is also pretty good. I has be posting a lot more often now and looking forwards to loads more discussions.
