i'm sitting in the tv room now and as i glance at the coffee table in the centre, i spot 4 flashlights of various colors and sizes. i wonder what they are for, and i realize that yesterday new jersey had a tornado warning and my mother, who purchased 20 gallons of water to supply a week's toilet flushing during the wake of Y2K, is simply exercising

your mother reminds me of my mother. we have a box of "ionic water" in those little foil packets that's good for 5 years. we also have those bars of "food" (i think it's made out of molasses) vacuum-packed in foil, also good for 5 years. or was it ten. all of which, she stores in a pull-handcarry, so, in her words, she can pull it quickly along the sidewalk if there's a tsunami coming after her. sidenote: our apartment is two flights of stairs up.

oh. we also have glowsticks.

i hope summer's going well.
