Warn for issues that need warning for!!

Apologies for lack of cut. As LJ has changed it's tools, I haven't yet worked out how to get the cut button to work. Any tips are gratefully received ( Read more... )

GAH. :/

I would definitely send this person a comment (or PM, if you want to be more discreet) and just let them know that you wanted to bring it to their attention that they might want to warn for certain things, you know? I think it's beneficial for the person to know, really. *nod* You're well within your rights to say something, in any case.

Thank you. I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt like this. I was sort of wondering if I was missing the point maybe as the comments all said how wonderful it was? but then, it did leave me feeling quite uneasy as I really don't enjoy those sort of psychological manipulation storylines, but I shall mention it to the person

There is a think in Australia, and hopefully in the rest of the world, called "white ribbon' it is saying that violence (in this case to women, but believe me domestic violence happens to males as well) is perpetuated by allowing people to say, or do things, you may not do it yourself, but by not saying something, you are allowing it and letting it become the norm. You can swear/make an oath, that you will not let that happen, if you hear a joke that promotes/condones violence, see actions, or anything else, you will do something to stop, or help - your post is the same, and I congratulate you for taking a stand.

Thank you. It's just a thing that makes me really uneasy when people are seeings things like that as 'cute' and 'hot'. I'm thinking but it's /wrong/. Forget the fact that canonically they have a good relationship, in this AU, it is wrong. I also sent the author a PM advising her to add warnings to her work so that other unwitting readers don't leave the fic feeling the same nausea as I did. I agree completely though that something does need to be done so that authors don't end up thinking it's right that that happens as it could end up happening in the real world which is where it would get really problematic

If you use the HTML tab you can manually code a cut. Substitute the angle brackets < > for the parenthesis, it looks like this (lj-cut)

that gives you the default "read more" break. When you've finished the text you want to cut, close with a the same command but with a /lj-cut (also in angle brackets.

*takes notes* thanks a lot. I use rich text i put all the stuff on there and then transfer to html after it's all copied and pasted and put that, it should still work shouldn't it?

You can get pretty mixed results when you switch between Rich Text and HTML. It seems to me there was a point about three years ago when you could get away with it, but I might be imagining that.

But it certainly wouldn't hurt to try.
