Happens a lot. The worst seems to be zebra crossings in shopping centre car parks. They may as well not have the damn things because they cause more trouble than they are worth. Being private land, they carry no legal status so drivers ignore them even more than they do real ones.

And hell, they ignore red lights on a regular basis round here, let alone zebra crossings!

The street in question has a dubious "Road Safety" scheme, in which the roadway itself is marked with numerous "suggested" crossing points of no legal standing, they are basically just places they advise using the Green Cross code, these are interspersed with legitimate Zebra Crossings with ruddy great big flashing Belisha Beacons at either end, AND those zigzaggy don't park here or else bits and everything, however in the jungle of other street markings and back-to-front traffic calming they get lost. Idiotic scheme.
