It's been forever!

Or at least a really long time. It's been six months since I left home. I've finished basic and MP training on Ft Leonard Wood. Now I'm in Ft Benning for Airborne school. Pretty rough here so I'm not certain if I'll make it through or not ( Read more... )

Hey! It's great to hear from you. I've been wondering how you were. So, are you in Georgia or are you dropping into the zone in Alabama?

What are you going to do with MP and paratrooper training? I'm getting this vision of you parachuting in to quell stockade riots.

Not sure where I'm dropping. I know the base is pretty much right on the border though.

As for MP and paratrooper training, it's hard to say. These days MPs get attached to Infantry units and get deployed with them, but they can be sent out with just about any unit and run security since they're pretty versatile. I'll be going to the 16th MP Brigade in Ft Bragg, NC which is the only Airborne MP unit in the US as far as I know. Probably won't be actually doing any airborne drops overseas though. It's been years since we've actually used an airborne offensive. Even the 101st and 82nd are still used as ground units. But the Army still takes great pride in it's Airborne even if it's a fading glory. But I think Air Assault is a more practical skill in this particular war. I wouldn't mind trying out for it myself one of these days.

Probably into the Fryar Drop Zone, which is in Alabama.

I went to check out your page to see how things were and saw that you haven't updated in a while either. So how're things going with you?

DS has slightly gone nutso. I guess that the jaded feeling has finally came upon most of the guys there.

Still awaiting for the managerial work at a new internet cafe that's gonna come within two weeks (my boss has to get some red tape with the building fixed before he can move in the gear). Hope this time I really control my domain, not the other way around.

Finally, right now I'm keeping watch over my home.

Internet people in general are pretty jaded by nature, I suppose.

Keeping watch over your home? Is that any different from sitting at home?

(hugs) It's so lovely to hear from you! I'm immensely glad that things are going well and that you will be home for a time. Happy very belated birthday, by the way.

As for anything new...I've changed jobs twice, finally gotten my permit and am currently torn between three universities-my old one, a community one and one specializing in my field of interest, but located within New York City. Things at home have been their usual pleasant, unfortunately. I honestly don't have the time to update online as much any more either, but such is life.

(hugs) Nice to hear from you too. And it's good that things are starting to look up as far as college. Be sure to weigh your options carefully, but I'm sure you'll do well whatever you decide.

Thank you, I am trying to do so. It is definitely not the easiest of decisions to make.

I know the feeling. I'm horrible about commiting to decisions. But sometimes if you can't find a good answer, you just have to toss a coin and run with it.

...Sometimes.

Hey! Still remember me? lol

Glad to see the Army didn't kill/kick you out yet. The thought of basic training is enough to make my knees weak hurhur

Nothing's happening much on my side.. altho I did drop a huge bucket of wangst that would've shocked you ahahahahah It's about terribly trivial stuff so nothing to worry about.

Good luck btw~!! You'll pass airborne school yeah

Heh. Believe me, there were times I wished they would kick me out. And training made my knees pretty weak sometimes too. :p

Did you post said bucket of wangst? I'm in the mood for a good dose of Internet drama. ;)
