So - how am I doing now?

Thought I should post an update as it's been a while. After I last posted, LadyP and I went home to Aus for my brother's wedding. Which was such a wonderful occasion and much needed holiday and I am very glad we went. However, I ended up with really bad anxiety and panic attacks and there was nothing punching through that sucker. It only heightened ( Read more... )

I loooooove you! I'm so glad some kind of light is flickering on the horizon for you. I know you're strong and you can weather the storm. Glad to hear the Zoloft is helping. In the social scenarios with the drinking and such - are they at private houses or out and about? I was thinking you could order soda or lemonade in a tall glass or sparkling apple juice in a champagne flute. You can break that 'why aren't you drinking' worry with a bit of faking it till you find something you feel comfortable saying ie, I've found lately that alcohol makes me feel ill so I'm having some time off the grog to cleanse my system - it's generically true ;)

Know that I'm always there for you, if you're desperate text me, I'm on the same number as I was using int he US and if I can, I'll be online, on the end of Skye, Facetime or even just fb chat. I wish I could be closer to be more help.

Chin up, you're doing great.

So good to hear from you. I'm sad that you got so down but I'm glad to hear that you are coming back up again and getting help with that.

I remember reading a Nigella book where she said she would occasionally avoid alcohol but never admitted it. She allowed the host to pour a glass of wine for her and she just didn't drink it. No one noticed that it didn't need refilling.

Or as KT says, BYO and only you know what's in it. But there are a whole bunch of medications that say no alcohol and you don't have to specify which one.

I'm used to being at the party and not drinking and I haven't been asked to explain for a long time, even with people that don't know me. I just say no thanks and they leave it at that. Of course, if it is with friends who would notice a change in behaviour you need a different strategy.

Keep up the good work. You are amazing. You just need to believe that again.

You're a bloody champion, woman! How you manage to slip from country to country, life to life and culture to culture without turning into a gibbering banana is beyond me ( ... )

I like reading the good bits! It's great to hear that some things are working, even slowly.
What are you doing in Dec this year? Wanna meet up in France for a few days? (I'm spending my year focused on that!!)

I am glad to hear things are looking up for you :) I know I am not online much but if you need the chat let me know and I can be...

We all love you and are here for you. Never forget that.... I know keeping that little grain of truth tucked away has helped me through some rough bits.

*hugs*
