BSG finale

Like the rest of the Internet, I should post about the BSG finale.

Spoiler-free: I liked it a lot. There were a few areas where I had to suspend my disbelief a bit, but Ron Moore has built up enough credit in the Rachel Bank to allow that. Other than those areas, AWESOME.

Spoileriffic:

1) Happy ending! YAY!

2) Tyrol killed Tory. With his bare hands. AWESOME. Also awesome were the opera house, Galactica frakking ramming into the colony, Boomer getting redemption and Athena shooting her husband-raping, kidnapping self anyway instead of having a warm fuzzy moment . . . frak, there are too many.

3) If you didn't get sniffly when Adama put his ring on Roslin's finger, you maybe don't have a soul. I'm just saying.

4) I was incredibly worried for awhile there that they weren't actually going to let us know whether or not Helo died. He gets horribly shot and tells Athena to stop holding the tourniquet, then disappears for an hour. Not cool. But then we did find out, so yay.

5) My one nitpick--which, again, seems to match up with the rest of the Internet--is that I find it hard to believe that everybody would cheerfully give up their technology. I can easily accept weapons and AI, but not antibiotics and indoor plumbing. But since it was the only way for the ending to make sense, I'll buy it.

6) I didn't find the epilogue overly heavy-handed, but that might have had more to do with the aforementioned credit line in the Rachel Bank. It was almost heavy-handed, but I'd rather enjoy things than not enjoy them, so I'll let it slide.

In other geeky TV show news, the 6th episode of Dollhouse was everything everyone promised it would be. Too bad that all the geeks of the world, including Joss Whedon, were watching the BSG finale instead. Oh, well, that's what Hulu's for . . .
