Persepolis is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. It's animated, but in no way is it a kid's movie. It is a coming of age story set in Iran. It's political and shows the oppressive social norms directed to women. I recommend it to anyone who loves a great, smart movie.

It's mostly in America where we think of as cartoons as a "for kids" medium anyways. There's tons of great, for-everyone (but usually geared towards adults with their themes) cartoons in other countries. I guess this is one of them. :)

Too bad America can't get with the picture, although I guess it is. Slowly.
