Just now, heading down to the shore for an evening walk, out over the water, I saw the arc and burn of a meteor, but much clearer and closer than I've ever seen before. Isn't it lovely, that thrill? When you're walking with someone and you point: "Look, a falling star!" (though you know it's not a star, it doesn't matter). And then, with the right people, there's a hush, and the next few minutes you walk along scanning the skies, buoyed up with grand pleasure. Even for just a little zipping nugget. Me too, always thrilled by it.
