Yes, YES. This is exactly what I see as Makepeace's motivation - the desperate need to fight the Goa'uld and protect the planet, no matter what it takes. Fantastic.

I've always been annoyed at how fandom gives Maybourne (gag) a pass and demonizes Makepeace, when it SHOULD be the other way around. This is a great stream-of-consciousness piece for him. Thanks for contributing. :)

Oh, it's Makepeace? I didn't get that until the end (and then sneakily read Fig's comment to make sure someone else thought that before posting!). My feelings for Maybourne are somewhere between "strongly dislike" and "loathe," but Makepeace's choice makes sense here.
