wow. I really meant to post more regularly than this! but a combination of life and computing woes have thwarted me. sorry!
Brian's here, finally. Took him 4 days to get from Boston to here, due to the wondrous winter you mainlanders are having. Nedward was VERY glad to see him, as was I :)
I made this for Manoa Valley Theatre, for their production of John Patrick Shanleys Doubt:
I made this for my mother, to replace one my dad made a hundred years ago that disintegrated last year:
Nedward made some angels too, with some help from B. Here's one:
We all went for a ride on the Hawai'i Superferry, round-trip Honolulu-Maui. It was pretty cool, even though most of us got a little bit seasick and Nedward threw up some. But he bounced right back -- ah, the resilience of youth!
We had a fun Christmas, though Nedward clearly does not yet understand the proper commercial spirit of the season! We woke up Xmas morning, and when we asked him if he wanted to go open presents he said "NO!" We went around on that for a while, and then we said okay, Mama and Daddy are going to go downstairs and open presents, do you want to stay upstairs by yourself? "YES!" Okay then. We went downstairs and left him up, with the monitor on, and he stayed there another good half-hour before he was willing to come down. It's now 6 pm the day after Xmas, and so far he has opened I think three presents! And that's only with extreme coaxing. He just doesn't get it.... :)
Here he is with one of the things he opened, a tent from my brother and sister-in-law.
My coolest present was from my stepdad Bill -- he got my mother and me both Kindles!! It is quite seriously cool.... even more so now that I've discovered I can check my gmail account from it! Haven't yet tried writing mail, or checking lj... will do that soon.
Other news, briefly: my laptop is in the shop again; I've gotten two job offers; gmtarkin's mom is coming here to visit. But it's time to go help with dinner, so more on that later!
