You're really getting Jackie's combined lonliness and bravery in these.

Thank you! That's exactly what I was really hoping would come across. It's all there, beneath the humour and the 'figure of fun' Jackie: a woman who's been widowed for far longer than she was married, who only has her daughter and is terrified of the danger she knows her daughter's in every moment she's with the Doctor. It's not all about wanting to keep Rose with her, as some have argued; it's about wanting to see her safe and happy.

One of the things that I really appreciated about Jackie is that they developed her character with a lot of depth and pathos rather than leaving her the comic relief... and yet without significantly changing her original character. "I never cared about the money... ... ... How rich?" (I loved that line!)

Oh, break my heart. I adore Jackie, and I can so imagine this scene.

Oh, thank you! :) I'm just so glad this worked so well for you. You and me both on Jackie. How incredibly hard it must have been for her, having just got Rose back and believing that it's for good this time, the nightmare's finally over - and then seeing Rose's misery and grief over the Doctor left behind to die. What it must have cost her to do what she did.

Absolutely adore that icon, by the way. Is it stealable? I've been looking for more Jackie icons.

LOVE it! You and your last lines! They punch me in the gut! That is so sad; she's looking at herself as this trivial being with a daughter who's making a difference and goes on extraordinary adventures. The contrast and the choices and her overall point of view... it hits hard. I really enjoyed these! I'm thinking you have more Jackie stories in you *G*

Thank you again :)) It's partly that - that she feels she's less important next to Rose - but it's more that she believes Rose doesn't think she or Mickey count next to the Doctor. That's where her insignificance comes in.

And, yes, there'll be more Jackie stories - I think this drabble series will continue through S2.
