Summary: The most painful scars are the ones on the inside.
I wrote this in response to
taffimai's prompt of 'dressing' on my One Word meme - yeah, I couldn't manage to stick to one sentence. :P
Dressing
The mirror shows him what Van Statten’s little machine did: purplish bruises all over his wrists, and red splotches on his chest where the rays burned his skin.
He was the lucky one, though. Of all Van Statten’s prisoners - and he includes the man’s employees in that count - he’s one of the few who got out alive.
Another enemy faced down; another abomination destroyed. And he’s not entirely sure he means the Dalek.
Footsteps along the corridor make him pull his jumper on quickly to hide the evidence.
Though, really, the most painful scars are the ones on the inside.
