Here are some questions for those of you who have been there - where would you recommend to visit? what would you suggest visitors should do whilst there? what shouldn't a visitor to Cornwall miss? We are going to spend a week in October, and I really would like some insight into what people do whilst they are there. As long-standing readers of my ( Read more... )

We went in June, and favourites for us were Trerice (National Trust), Lappa Valley Railway, Dairylands (probably too young for yours though), Goonhilly Earth Station and St. Ives. We stayed near Perranporth.

Past visits - loved the Eden Project and the other NT houses in Cornwall, and walking some of the coastal paths. Don't think we were that impressed by Lands End.

I'd love to go to the Barbara Hepworth garden. And in the Tate in St. Ives. One day!

I love walking on the beach in October when it's very blowy, but I can see why some people aren't so keen.

Thankyou. We went in October last year and spent a lot of time walking the beaches, which was my favourite part of the holiday. We couldn't get over how desserted it was. We bought kites for the children and they had a blast. We are staying near to St Ives where FIL lives.

We weren't impressed by Lands End either. We are members of EH, not NT, and there aren't many EH sites in Cornwall. We also went to Flambards for the last day of their season, whilst the fireworks were spectacular, it was SO cold it rather spoilt it all.

I am not looking forward to the drive, although the children are very well behaved in the car. I need to stop being so negative, a break is a break after all.

It is on my list of places to go too, but I am always voted out by the other members of the family.

OOoh yes! Some good suggestions already.

Eden Project
Barbara Hepworth
Tate St Ives

We also enjoyed Tintagel Castle

I hope you can get some enjoyment from just being away from home together as a family despite the connotations. xx
