Charles knows that the man he sometimes shares his bed with is the same person as the boy who suffered unspeakable loss and privation. He can feel the still-fresh pain on his skin, taste the helpless anger in his kiss.
No matter how much he wishes he could fix it, he can't, because to take Erik's pain away without his consent would be just one more violation.
All he can do is stay with him, be here for him, for as long as he can. Though sometimes, when even their bodies are locked together, he thinks he's already lost him.
