[Drabble] Boundaries [11/?]

Jaejoong walked in, nonchalant and disinterested. He looked around, not taking off his sunglasses just yet. He sees several familiar faces and pretends not to make eye contact, shielded by the dark lenses.

It takes several moments to find who he’s looking for, but sure enough, he sees the smiling face of someone he’s been thinking way too much about.

Jaejoong makes no move to take off his sunglasses as he gazes at the younger man, the only man who can rock an oversized sweater and tight jeans.  Yunho looked tired but healthy.  He was chatting animatedly to several of the newer actors and Jaejoong was content just to watch.

It was convenient that no one could discern exactly what or who he was looking at because of the sunglasses.  He could hear staff members talking to him and they didn’t know he wasn’t listening (seriously, this isn’t the first script reading he’s been to-I know the drill, just leave me alone).

Of course when the producer comes up to him, Jaejoong takes off the tinted glasses and forces himself to look away.  As he greets the scriptwriters, Jung Yunho’s bright smile is burned into the back of his head and Jaejoong couldn’t wait for that smile to be directed towards him.

It takes them a while to all sit down and begin.

With the director’s insistence, Jaejoong and the lead actress sat next to each other.  While all he really wanted to do was just watch Yunho from the corner of his eye, he knows that a job is a job.

They go through the script for the first three episodes and Jaejoong allows himself to completely immerse in the character-of course, he pays particular attention to Yunho’s lines.  The producer and scriptwriter are pleasantly surprised that both leads got into character so quickly.

The reading was over and now it was time for the test shoot.  The large conference room was rather empty as people had filed to the changing rooms. Jaejoong lingered behind in hopes of speaking to a certain idol actor but the lead actress had caught him the moment he stood up.

“It’s going to be a pleasure working with you,” the veteran actress says with a bright smile.

Unconsciously still immersed in his character, Jaejoong gave her a heart-melting, loving smile, “Same here.”

A door slammed shut and Jaejoong jerked to locate the source but whoever did it was long gone.  The door had been the only direct exit to the parking lot.

It didn’t take much deductive reasoning to guess who it was when he overheard the test shoot photographer complaining about large company newbie idol actors who half-assed drama roles.

If it occurred to Jaejoong that Yunho wouldn’t be participating in the test shoot, he might have approached the young man much earlier, but by the time he realized, the leader of DBSK had already arrived at the radio station.

Not that Jaejoong would admit it to anyone, but he pouted through most of the test shoot photos.

(“So you were jealous.”

“Was not.”

“In denial.”

“Am not.”

“In love?”

“Changmin!”)

And at a station seven blocks away, Changmin thanked their management that it was a radio show.  Jung Yunho looked absolutely uncharismatic with that babyish pout on his lips.
