This week I planned, picked out, and assembled light fixtures for the living room all by myself. I'm quite proud! Dave and I installed them, and now we have three little hanging lamps above the couch. They give good reading light and match our Peruvian wall hangings. Score

Our place is slowly coming together. I've almost stopped leaving piles of stuff on the living room floor, and I've kept an orchid healthy for a whole three weeks now.

That's so lovely! We've been trying to find shades for our lights here (there are bare bulbs in all the rooms, which is sort of depressing...) but the ceilings are super-high so it is kinda hard to put them up... I just managed to get one of those big circular paper shades up in my room though, and it looks so pretty!

Oh, I like those paper shades too. We have a long skinny one that goes over a standing lamp. I bet with the high ceilings, you have room to do some interesting things with lampshades once you get them up there.
