Speculations and probably nonsense
Under the cut I am putting some spoilers and spolierey thoughts about season 6 more specifically Episode 4.
I was sparked by tina_als_girl http://doctorwho.livejournal.com/7460103.html and her "crack theories". I liked her noticing purple.
I went looking for a photo of Idris. What do you know she has a purple sash or belt as part of her costume? http://insidetrekker.blogspot.com/2011/03/neil-gaimans-doctor-who-series-6-ep-4.html I found this quote...
in a column for Doctor Who Magazine, Gaiman described Suranne’s character as “someone who is beautiful, and who bites, and who might just turn out to be an old acquaintance with a new face…”, adding, “it starts in void-space, with something - or someone - we have not seen since [1969 Patrick Troughton story] ‘The War Games’, and a knock on the TARDIS door…”
So I pulled up War Games from my Terabyte drive(given to me by my wonderful husband so I'd have storage for my brother's present...An electronic copy of every Doctor Who episode ever made or reconstructed ones for the episodes thaat were lost)
I also looked up who left Doctor Who and was never seen again. This was Patrick Tro
ughton's last regular episode, but he came back for The Three Doctors and The Five Doctors. Zoe Heriot and Jammie Mc Crimmon both left but reprized their roles in later episodes too.
The War Chief, known in the Time Lord Academy as Magnus, was a former friend of The Doctor and, later, a renegade Time Lord who assisted the War Lords. After the failure of the War Lords, he regenerated, although he was deformed by the experience. He then travelled back in time, in order to use the Nazis as his agents. He was finally stopped by the Seventh Doctor.
A character known only as The War Lord was the leader of the War Lords who made an alliance with the War Chief to kidnap Humans to participate in the War Lords' war games
. He was eventually tried by the Time Lords and was sentenced to be dematerialized out of existence along with all war lords. He is described as near human or a being that can pass for human.
They all look like dead ends to me but my brain is going to mull a while. Any thoughts?
