So I'm running for Ms. TSTC (the school I'm going to) right?  It's a scholarship worth $1,500 for the winner $1,000 and $500 for the runner ups.  There is also a Mr. TSTC for the same scholarships.  There is no bathing suit competition nor a talent portion.  I thought it would be fun to do especially if I managed to win something ( Read more... )

Try resale shops and clearance racks! I found my prom dress for (and I kid you not) $12. It was originally $300, I just got lucky and found it cut down ridiculously on a clearance rack. A trip to Payless got me shoes, and not including my updo, after the dress, shoes, and accessories I had spent all of $40.

Good luck!

That's what I've been doing about the dress. Though I've only been out looking for 2 days. And the shoes have to be altered to accommodate my left leg being an inch and a half shorter than the right which costs $100+ to get done on top of the cost of the shoes themselves. If they can be altered at all, not all shoes can (ie heels) and can take 1-3 weeks to get done. So I've just been trying to think of contingency plan in case I can't get anything in time
