Shit Brother is Shit

So on Friday i was told that by the end of this month or the begining of next my shit brother's girlfriend and her 2 kids will be moving in with us.  Or rather into shit brother's room.  all 4 of them in the one room.  For all our sakes I really hope I like her but it's extremely doubtful. I'm trying not to judge simply b/c she is with shit brother

Not sure if this is anything you'd be interested in, but I found out a few months ago that when multiple people inherit property, or own property together, any person can force the sale of the property without the consent of the others. I had never heard that before, so I thought I'd pass it on to you since you're the only person I know dealing with this kind of thing.

Basically, you tell the other parties that they either need to buy you out or you all need to sell the property. If they refuse, you file what I think is called a Partition Suit. It goes to court, and the judge orders that they either buy you out or they are court ordered to sell the property.

Really now?? I never new you can do that. I assume if it had to be sold then the money would be split between between all parties? I must look into this... Thanks!!

As far as I know, yes, you split the profits equally, after costs. You can even sue the other parties for money spent to maintain the property that wasn't split equally between you (like if you had paid to have a new roof put on, and no one else pitched in, you can sue for their portion of it). Talk with a lawyer about all of the details, because I'm certainly not one :P
