Fantasia Blog: Late Edition

As I'm clearly never going to get around to writing up my full reviews of the rest of the films I saw at fantasia, here's some quick impressions and trailers:

Possessed

Solid Korean horror, more self-assured than most.

Battle in Outer Space

Fantastic sci-fi from Toho, but with stupid misogyny.

The Disappearance of Alice Creed

Executed very well, could have easily been a play. Clever and enjoyable.

[Rec] 2

Exactly what I wanted from a sequel to [Rec], even though I didn't really know what I wanted.

King of Thorn

Really good, sci-fi Anime, keeps you guessing, and keeps going a little further.

Suck

Most of the film is self-insertion, wish-fulfillment from the writer/lead/director. However, it has excellent maxi-cameos from Dave Foley, Iggy Pop, Alice Cooper and Henry Rollins, and both the lead actress and one of the supporting actors (the roadie) were quite good.

The Last Exorcism

The Exorcist, completely re-written for modern times. Rather good.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World

They also have an 'i-Trailer' here, which is a good example of how much energy has gone into marketing the film.

Lots of fun if you're its niche audience. The book is marginally better due to spending more time on the supporting cast.
